Two German alpinists stranded at 4000 meters in the Swiss Alps were forced to wait for rescue for an entire day and night, Welt reported.
Their rope got stuck on a mountainside, and poor weather prevented Swiss rescuers from completing the operation despite multiple attempts.
Eventually, Italian rescuers used a helicopter to safely evacuate the climbers to a secure area. Their health condition was reported as stable.
The incident took place on Mount Breithorn, which lies on the border between Switzerland and Italy, thus the rescue was carried out by the Italian side.
Despite harsh conditions, the rescuers demonstrated professionalism and managed to save both lives.
The alpinists have since undergone a medical check and are reported to be in good overall condition.
