The Israeli army has warned about plans to evacuate around one million residents of Gaza City to the south. They said that hospitals in the south are preparing to receive patients who will be transferred.
The Gaza Ministry of Health opposed this plan. In their view, such a move would lead to the complete collapse of the healthcare system and endanger the lives of the population. The UN and other international organizations also stated they will remain in the city and continue providing aid.
In recent days, bombardments of eastern areas of Gaza City have intensified. Many houses were destroyed in the Zeitun and Sabra neighborhoods. According to civil defense, at least 48 people were killed in a single day.
Hundreds of people in the city held protest rallies, demanding an end to the war and declaring they were against forced evacuation. “We are tired, we do not want to leave our homes,” said one protester.
Israel is also conducting negotiations on the release of hostages. Mediators from Qatar and Egypt proposed a 60-day truce plan, and Hamas said it had agreed to it. However, Israel has not yet officially responded. The UN warned that unless a ceasefire is established immediately, even more people in Gaza will die.
