In India, a shocking and terrifying incident has attracted the attention of the entire public. According to reports, a 35-year-old brave mother showed great courage and determination to save her young child from the jaws of a crocodile.
The incident occurred in the village of Dakia, in a canal connected to the Gagra River. While a boy named Viru was swimming, a wild crocodile about seven meters long attacked him. The animal bit the boy tightly and began dragging him into the drainage part of the canal.
Hearing her child’s screams, the mother immediately jumped into the water without hesitation. Risking her own life, she began to fight the crocodile using an iron rod. According to eyewitnesses, the woman struck the animal continuously for five minutes until it was forced to let go of the boy.
Eventually, the boy was rescued. However, both the mother and the child sustained injuries. According to doctors and forest officials, Viru’s life is not in danger, and his condition is stable.
After the incident, local authorities and relevant institutions began installing protective nets along the canal. In addition, residents were strongly warned against swimming in water bodies during the rainy season.
According to official reports, since 2020, there have been 17 recorded cases of crocodile attacks on humans in this region, 5 of which unfortunately ended in fatalities. Environmentalists attribute this situation to the destruction of animals’ natural habitats, lack of control over water bodies, and poaching.
