Israel intensifies attacks on Gaza City
Israeli planes and tanks are bombarding the northern and eastern parts of Gaza City. The attacks are said to be aimed at capturing Gaza City, which has a population of nearly one million.

According to the Hamas-run health ministry, 64 people were killed and about 300 injured in the last 24 hours. In total, since October 7, 2023, more than 62,000 people have been killed in Gaza and more than 157,000 have been injured.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite international pressure, stressed that Hamas will be completely defeated. The country’s government is mobilizing more than 60,000 reservists. The defense minister said that if Hamas does not disarm and release hostages, Gaza City will be completely destroyed.

Ceasefire talks are continuing with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt. Hamas announced that it had accepted a proposal providing for a 60-day truce and the release of some hostages. However, Israel rejected such a partial agreement and is demanding the release of all hostages.

The UN and international organizations warn that an offensive on Gaza City could lead to severe humanitarian consequences. According to official data, 90% of homes have been destroyed, and the healthcare and water supply systems are barely functioning. On Friday, the UN confirmed the emergence of famine in Gaza City.
