From 2026, the Russian language exam for migrants will be conducted on a computer

Starting from January 1, 2026, exams on the Russian language, Russian history, and the basics of Russian legislation will be conducted exclusively in computer format for foreign citizens and stateless individuals coming to Russia. This decision was officially announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia through Rosobrnadzor.

These changes may lead to automation in the higher education sector and the application of modern technologies. Through the "ExaM" software system developed by the Federal Test Center of Russia, the exam process will be fully automated. This system covers all stages — from registering participants to calculating results.

The "ExaM" program allows for video identification, taking exams, assessing results, issuing certificates, and real-time monitoring of all processes. In addition, certificates for those who successfully pass the exam will be issued on the same day.

It is known that the "ExaM" program works on any computer equipment and allows systematic monitoring of each exam session, managing registration, creating reports, and controlling access. This, in turn, should create additional conveniences for students and help migrants learn the Russian language and solve problems that arise in a timely manner.
