A high-profile criminal case has been opened in Germany, drawing significant public attention. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has officially charged US citizen Martin D. According to the official statement, he is suspected of working as an agent in the interests of foreign intelligence services.
Reports state that from 2017 until the spring of 2023, Martin D. worked as a civilian contractor for the US Department of Defense. During this time, he carried out various duties, and starting in 2020, he was stationed at a US military base in Germany.
Investigators claim that in the summer of 2024, the accused made several contacts with Chinese government bodies and offered to pass on classified information about the US military to Chinese intelligence. These actions further strengthened suspicions of his cooperation with foreign intelligence.
Since November 7, 2024, Martin D. has been held in custody. At the time of reporting, neither US nor Chinese officials have commented on the charges brought by the German side.
