The US Congress candidate Valentina Gomez burned the Quran with a lighter, reports “Timeline Daily”.
Gomez, a Republican Party candidate from the state of Texas, is seen in the video holding a lighter in her hands and burning the Holy Book. In the clip, she also stated that Islam in Texas “must be completely eliminated.”
Gomez is running for the US Congress House of Representatives from Texas’ 31st district. It is noted that she accuses Muslims of “threatening Christian states through violence” and calls on her supporters to back her.
The video caused significant outrage on social media. The public and legal experts assess Gomez’s actions as a threat to religious freedom and as a hate-inciting act. This incident sparked wide discussions in the US about religious freedom and legal frameworks.
It should be recalled that previously in Viyerban, France, a similar incident occurred: an unknown person stole the Quran from a mosque and burned it. These events make issues of religious tolerance and peace even more relevant internationally.
