The law was introduced for security reasons. Officials say that the governments of these countries could put pressure on the US and cause harm. Therefore, Texas is trying to protect itself.
However, many have criticized the decision. Chinese immigrants and lawyers call it “unfair” and “discriminatory.” Some politicians also argue that the law will harm business.
Lawsuits have been filed, but so far the law remains in force. Experts note that this issue should be resolved not at the state level, but nationwide.
The restriction in Texas is part of a larger process in the US. In recent years, other states have also adopted similar laws. This shows that tensions between the US and China are increasing.
