This was reported by CNN, one of the leading US news agencies. It was reported that US President Donald Trump had previously promised to come to Chicago, Illinois, with federal oversight measures. Its main goal was to introduce federal structures if local authorities do not effectively regulate crime and disorder.
Illinois Governor Jay Pritsker described the action as a "military invasion." He added that Trump's measures are not only related to ensuring order in the city, but, in his opinion, there may be other goals in influencing the planned gubernatorial and congressional elections in 2026 by deploying military forces to the state.
At the same time, local public and political analysts continue to debate the political consequences of this decision. In their opinion, this situation could also lead to an escalation of relations between federal and local authorities in the USA.
