Shark invades Sydney beach: one man dead
A man has died in Sydney after a large shark attack. He was swimming with friends at Long Reef beach when the attack happened. Rescuers brought him to shore, but his life could not be saved.

Reports say the victim had been in the water for only half an hour, and the attack occurred about 100 metres from the shore.

Following the incident, several popular beaches in the Northern Beaches area were closed. Experts expect them to remain shut for 24 to 72 hours. Police are working to identify the species of shark involved.

The last fatal shark attack in Sydney was recorded in 2022. On average, about 20 such cases occur each year in Australia. This incident once again highlighted the ongoing danger of sharks in the country.
