Tunisia denies attack on vessel carrying Greta Thunberg

Tunisian authorities have denied reports that a vessel carrying aid to Gaza, with Greta Thunberg on board, was attacked by a drone.

Organisers of the flotilla said that the Portuguese-flagged vessel was struck while anchored near Tunisia and that a fire broke out. According to them, all passengers and crew members were safe.

Tunisia’s National Guard stated that no drone had been detected and that the explosion might have originated inside the vessel. An investigation is ongoing.

The flotilla departed from Barcelona last week with the aim of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. Similar ships have previously been stopped by Israel.
