Russia and Belarus launch joint military exercise
Russia and Belarus on Friday began a military exercise called “Zapad-2025.” It is taking place on the territory of both countries, as well as in the Baltic and Barents Seas.

The drills include scenarios of repelling an attack and defending territory. Troops from Russia, Belarus, and other partner states are also participating.

The exercise began two days after a drone, suspected to belong to Russia, was shot down in Polish airspace. Moscow said it had no connection to the incident, while the West described it as a provocation.

Poland’s prime minister called the drills dangerous and closed the border with Belarus. Lithuania and Latvia also strengthened security measures on their borders.
