Palestine: Western countries close to recognition, Israel opposes
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after the recent attack in Qatar, said that Hamas leaders abroad are also “not under protection”. According to him, Israel has the right to defend itself beyond its borders.

At a meeting in Jerusalem with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Netanyahu stressed that the attack was carried out solely by Israel. The strike sparked international criticism, with US President Donald Trump stating that such an incident would not happen again on Qatari soil.

Rubio, in turn, emphasized the strength of ties between Israel and the United States. Meanwhile, Arab states held a summit in Qatar, issuing strong statements against Israel. The UN warned that the displacement of Gaza residents would lead to even more severe consequences.

The meeting took place ahead of the UN General Assembly, where several Western countries are expected to officially recognize Palestine. Netanyahu reiterated that the construction of new Jewish settlements in the West Bank rules out the creation of a Palestinian state.
