Youth Protests in Nepal Topple Government
In Nepal, young people launched large-scale anti-corruption protests, forcing the government to resign within 48 hours. More than 70 people were killed, hundreds injured, and both public and private property suffered major damage.

The uprising was triggered by a ban on social media and anger over politicians’ children living lavish lifestyles. Initially peaceful demonstrations quickly turned into unrest, with the parliament, the prime minister’s office, and major hotels set on fire.

As the situation spiraled out of control, the government deployed the army and imposed a curfew. Later, former Supreme Court chief justice Sushila Karki was appointed interim prime minister. She is expected to lead the country until elections.

Experts say these events mark one of the sharpest turning points in Nepal’s political life. Young people say they will no longer remain silent and will continue to fight against injustice. At the same time, concerns remain over the heavy economic losses and the country’s future stability.
