A man released in Thailand attracted attention for intentionally committing a theft in order to return to prison. According to Pravilamag, a 30-year-old man named Pakin stole a ring worth $750 from a jewelry store. Before taking the ring, he asked the servants: "If I come out with this ring, will they arrest me?" After receiving a positive response, he left the store, but did not run away from the police and immediately surrendered to law enforcement.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that this was not Pakin's first attempt to return to prison. He went to another store and asked the same question, but didn't buy anything. At the same time, the man admitted to committing a deliberate crime in order to escape life's difficulties and return to prison discipline.
Pakin openly stated the reason for his return to prison: he had faced a number of setbacks in his life, his mother did not pass on the inheritance to him, and his life's work, family relationships, and connections with his wife and daughter had failed. He also admitted to suffering from drug addiction.
In the end, Pakin did not receive punishment for the theft, as the shop owner did not demand justice and did not suffer material damage. He was charged only with drug use and sent to rehabilitation.
