The Trump administration appealed to the US Supreme Court on Friday, demanding the lifting of protection against deportation status granted to approximately 300,000 Venezuelan immigrants residing in the country. They accused the lower court, which changed the decision, of "unjustified disrespect."
This case is related to a decision made earlier this year by US Secretary of Homeland Security Christie Noyem, which mandates the termination of temporary protection status (TPS) granted as humanitarian aid to Venezuelan immigrants.
According to reports, TPS status granted temporary legal residence rights to refugees and individuals unable to return to their homeland for various reasons. Hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Venezuela gained the opportunity to live and work in the USA through this status.
This demand from the Trump administration caused significant concern among the migrants. Experts believe that if the Supreme Court upholds the decision, hundreds of thousands of people could be forced to return to their homeland.
