US President Donald Trump, speaking at a session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 22, called for an immediate end to the war in the Gaza Strip and the release of all people held hostage by Hamas. In his speech, Trump emphasized that some UN members sought to recognize the State of Palestine, and this would be a great reward for Hamas terrorists.
"Unfortunately, Hamas has repeatedly rejected reasonable peace proposals. Now, as if encouraging the continuation of the conflict, some UN members are striving for unilateral recognition of the State of Palestine. This is a huge reward for the atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists. This would be a reward for those terrible atrocities, including the events of October 7," said US President Donald Trump.
Trump believes that instead of helping Hamas, the global community "should unite with one call." According to him, "Release the hostages right now, just release the hostages. We must immediately stop the war in Gaza. We need to start negotiations immediately. We need to agree on a truce," Trump said.
In addition, on the eve of the UN General Assembly, it was announced that a number of states, including Great Britain, France, Canada, Australia, and Portugal, have decided to recognize Palestinian statehood. In total, more than 145 of the 193 UN member states recognize Palestine.
Trump's statement emphasizes the urgent need to unite the international community to stabilize the situation in the Gaza Strip and establish peace. His words require even more attention to this issue.
