The political actions of US President Donald Trump have become a major problem for FIFA officials. According to the Iranian Football Federation's press service, after the US changed its visa policy, seven Iranian officials were stripped of their US entry visas for the 2026 World Cup final draw. Among them are the president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, and the head coach of the national team, Amir Galenoi.
Experts emphasize that the players and coaching staff should not have problems obtaining a World Cup visa, but the entry of officials, journalists, and fans into the country is currently becoming an issue. Therefore, the Iranian federation hopes to hold matches in Canada and Mexico. Political and visa problems in the US are causing great difficulties in conveying interest in football to new travel destinations.
