Trump orders National Guard deployment to Chicago
US President Donald Trump approved sending 300 National Guard troops to control crime in Chicago. According to him, the city’s security has broken down. The decision was made after clashes between immigration officers and protesters.

Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker called this action an “abuse of power.” He said the president has no right to send military forces without state approval. A similar decision in Oregon was temporarily halted.

The White House explained the move as “necessary to protect federal employees and public property.” Trump said his goal was to restore peace amid the unrest.

It is not yet known whether the guardsmen have arrived in the city. Experts say this decision could intensify political debates in Chicago.
