US government remains shut down

The US Senate once again failed to reach an agreement to reopen the government. Proposals from both Democrats and Republicans did not receive enough votes. As a result, federal agencies remain unfunded.

President Donald Trump said that if the issue is not resolved, thousands of employees could lose their jobs. He expressed readiness to negotiate with Democrats, but they insist on including healthcare issues in the legislation.

White House officials warned that if no compromise is found, some employees could be permanently laid off. Trump, meanwhile, blamed Democrats for the government shutdown.

Both parties are accusing each other of obstruction. Polls show that most Americans hold Trump and the Republicans more responsible for the situation.
