Putin commented on Trump not receiving the Nobel Prize

Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the recent decisions of the Nobel Committee, saying that its prestige has significantly declined. According to him, in recent years the committee has given the Peace Prize to people who have done little to promote peace, and as a result, “the Peace Prize” has lost its value.

Speaking at a press conference in Dushanbe, Putin acknowledged the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump. “I don’t know whether Trump deserves the Nobel Prize or not, but it must be admitted that he has made great efforts to resolve complex crises,” said the Russian leader.

According to Putin, Trump has launched several initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and has been active on the international stage. “The fact is that he is trying to stop wars and achieve stability through agreements,” Putin added.

On Friday morning, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was announced as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Donald Trump called this decision unusual and said that, as a leader who had stopped seven wars, he himself deserved the award.

Earlier this week, Trump announced that under his “Trump Plan,” a ceasefire and hostage-release agreement had been reached between Hamas and Israel.

Previously, White House press secretary Steven Chang also called the Nobel Committee’s decision “politically motivated” and stated that Trump continues to work toward peace.

At the same time, Trump has not yet commented on the award being given to Machado, but he has repeatedly said: “Taking the prize from me and giving it to others is an insult to America.”

Putin’s statement drew great attention on the global stage — some analysts described it as “a new stage of Western criticism,” while others saw it as “a signal of rapprochement with Trump.”
