Tensions rise between Thailand and Cambodia

Experts say the mines that exploded along the Thailand–Cambodia border were newly planted. According to them, the discovered mines are not old and are still well preserved.

In July, after a Thai soldier stepped on a mine, a brief clash broke out between the two countries. Later, a truce was brokered by the United States.

Thailand claims that Cambodia planted the mines, while Cambodia denies the accusation, saying the mines date back to an old war.

Thailand has appealed to the United Nations, accusing Cambodia of violating the treaty. The UN urged both countries to resolve the issue peacefully.
