Telegram founder Pavel Durov recently criticized the French government following the theft of jewelry from the Louvre Museum, saying he is ready to personally buy back the stolen items and return them to the museum.
In a post on X, Durov accused France’s leadership of “fighting imaginary threats instead of confronting real ones.”
“The looting of the Louvre doesn’t surprise me. It’s yet another sad sign of the decline of what was once a great country,” Durov wrote.
He later added that he would “gladly purchase the stolen jewels and return them to the Louvre in Abu Dhabi — since no one steals from there.”
It should be recalled that Durov was arrested in France last year and later released. In his latest statement, he said that the incident severely damaged France’s reputation as a free country.
