American man wrongly imprisoned for 43 years arrested again

In the United States, the fate of 64-year-old Subramanyam Vedam, a victim of injustice, has once again drawn public attention. He spent 43 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, and shortly after being released, he was arrested again. This was reported by LADbible.

According to reports, Vedam was arrested in the 1980s for the murder of his 19-year-old former roommate, Tom Kinser. The missing student’s body was found nine months later, and Vedam became the main suspect. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment without parole.

After more than four decades, new evidence proved his innocence. Earlier this year, he was acquitted and released. However, he was arrested again by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents before he could even reunite with his family.

According to an ICE statement, he will remain in custody until the deportation process is completed. It is known that Vedam was born in India and brought to the United States when he was only nine months old. He now faces the possibility of being deported to his homeland.

The man’s relatives expressed deep sorrow, saying they did not even have the chance to hug him after his release.

Legal experts have described this case as one of the most tragic errors in the U.S. justice system and “a second deprivation of freedom.”
