In the city of Northampton, the first illegal factory producing weight loss drugs was discovered and completely shut down. The operation was carried out by the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and was recorded as the world’s largest seizure of illegal medicines.
The factory contained tens of thousands of chemical ingredients and over 2,000 unlicensed Retatrutide and Tirzepatide weight loss drugs ready to be shipped to customers. Experts say these drugs are untested, dangerous, and pose a serious risk to health.
According to Andy Morling, head of the crime enforcement division, stopping this network has saved tens of thousands of lives from danger. He noted that such illegal products bring huge profits on the global market but are dangerous to health. Government officials described it as “an important victory against criminals who endanger people’s lives.”
Experts advise the public to be cautious when purchasing medicines online and to buy only from registered pharmacies. Authorities warn that “taking medicines without a doctor’s prescription poses a serious risk to health.”
