Turkey may introduce electronic visa for Uzbek citizens

The strategic partnership between Turkey and Uzbekistan may reach a new stage. According to local media, a meeting at the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs discussed several initiatives aimed at creating greater convenience for citizens of both countries.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Mehmet Aktaş emphasized that relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan continue to develop steadily and presented several new opportunities for citizens.

In particular, the Turkish government is considering the introduction of an electronic system for issuing work visas to Uzbek citizens. This will significantly simplify the document collection and application process.

It was also discussed that Uzbek citizens currently residing in Turkey for other reasons may be able to obtain work permits without leaving the country.

The two sides have also moved closer to an agreement to establish a unified electronic database to regulate illegal migration and identify law violators.

In addition, the interior ministries of both countries are preparing a memorandum on cooperation to combat illegal migration and organize the repatriation process.

At a separate meeting in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Musa Kulaklıkaya highlighted the historical, cultural, and religious ties connecting Turkey and Uzbekistan and expressed a desire to further expand political and economic cooperation.

The talks also emphasized that cooperation in the field of labor migration has long-term potential.
