On the night of November 4, a powerful explosion occurred at the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant in the Bashkir Republic of Russia. Emil Shaymardanov, the head of the Sterlitamak city administration, announced this on his social media page.
According to him, the explosion occurred in the water treatment plant. At the time of the incident, there were five workers in the workshop, but according to preliminary data, none of them were injured. "Currently, the causes of the explosion are being investigated, all relevant agencies are working at the scene," the mayor said.
A few hours later, the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, also commented. According to him, two drones attacked the industrial complex in Sterlitamak, but they were successfully shot down by an air defense system. "Fragments of the drone fell on the territory of the auxiliary workshop of the plant. No one was killed or injured. The enterprise continues its work in the usual manner," Khabirov said.
Events were also recorded that night in other regions of Russia. An attack by Ukrainian drones was repelled in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. According to local residents, at least 9-12 explosions were heard in the city.
Ukrainian media reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces drones struck the Lukoil-Nijegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery. At the same time, the Astra Telegram channel published videos that may be related to this incident.
In addition, the situation has deteriorated in the Kursk region. Governor Alexander Khinshtein reported that more than 16,000 residents were left without electricity as a result of a drone strike on a substation in Rylsk. Currently, technical services are carrying out repair work.
Russian officials link the incidents to drone attacks by Ukraine. At the same time, it was reported that air defense systems were additionally activated in several regions of the country.
Officials emphasized that the situation is under control, but the risk of potential new attacks still remains.
