A woman named Dominique Valdes, who lives in France, was fined in court for her red cat named Remi. According to the court decision, he will pay 1,200 euros in compensation for damage to the neighbor's property and will be forced to pay a fine of 30 euros each time the animal moves to a foreign territory.
According to Le Parisien, the investigation revealed that the cat had contaminated the new plaster, the blanket, and the garden. However, Valdes denied these accusations, stating that there was no clear evidence in this case:
"There's another red cat in our neighborhood." "There are all kinds of cats in the pictures," he said.
Following the incident, the neighbors filed an additional lawsuit, demanding another two thousand euros in compensation. And now Valdes is forced to keep his cat at home.
"Rémy is like a prisoner at home." He grew fat and became restless. "I'm even afraid to go out into the garden," he says.
This case caused public discontent. The Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) criticized this decision. The head of the organization, Guillaume Sanchez, emphasized that cats naturally strive to explore their environment, and if this becomes a precedent, it could complicate the animal adoption process.
Local residents are also concerned about the court's decision. "Cats move freely from house to house. They bring profit by destroying rats. Now it's unfair that punishment is being prepared for them too," says Natalie, the owner of four cats.
