The major Readers' Choice Awards (RCA) competition, held by Wanderlust magazine, annually identifies the most prestigious destinations and brands in the world of tourism. This time, there was no exception: more than 200,000 travel enthusiasts from all over the world voted to determine the most beloved countries of the year.
According to Time Out, this award will be given to the most attractive destinations, the most reliable tour operators, and branding companies that have strengthened their position in the tourism industry.
Japan - at peak again after a ten-year break
Japan won the title of "Most Respected Country" this year. Interestingly, this country last received such recognition more than 10 years ago.
The reason is clear: in Japan, you can spend any vacation as you wish. From sandy beaches to tranquil mountain landscapes, from centuries-old history and deep culture to world-famous thematic parks and huge metropolises - all are concentrated in one country.
In particular, cities like Tokyo and Kyoto have become one of the most tourist destinations in the world. At the same time, according to Wanderlust, travelers are now discovering new places: the shores of Shikoku, the residence of the Kanazawa Masters, and even remote islands where the spirit of Japan is clearly felt.
Time Out also highlighted the Dzimboto region, which has become Tokyo's center for books. Local expert Syot Nagoa called it "the most visited place for generations of Tokyo intellectuals." Tokyo is also included in the list of the best cities in the world for 2025.
Costa Rica and Canada close the top three
According to Wanderlust readers' votes, Costa Rica took second place in popularity. This coastal country of Central America attracts tourists with its amazingly rich nature and wild environment.
According to Time Out, the Osa Peninsula is the destination of one of the lowest-rated, yet largest eco-adventures in the world.
Canada took third place - with its unparalleled natural beauty, vast territory, and diverse tourist destinations, it attracts millions of people annually.
