In Italy, it was revealed that a 57-year-old man illegally brought the pension of his deceased mother for three years. According to CNN, she tried to appear at the office to issue a new passport, disguising herself as her deceased mother - Graziella Dall'Oglio, who died in 2022 at the age of 82.
The man, wearing the woman's clothes and using makeup and a wig, mimicked her appearance to the maximum extent. However, the office worker, suspecting his condition, behavior, and voice, contacted the police.
The surveillance cameras revealed that the "deceased" was driving a car - the woman did not have a driver's license. The police immediately detained the man.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers discovered another horrific revelation in the apartment where the woman lived: the mummified body of the deceased was taken from a closet in the laundry, wrapped in special bags. During the investigation, the man also stated that he used special methods to protect the body from decay.
He is accused of concealing the body, deceiving the state, impersonating, and preparing forged documents. A forensic medical examination has been ordered regarding the deceased's death.
Italian police emphasize that attempts to obtain pensions on behalf of the deceased are not uncommon in the country - delays in data exchange between registers create opportunities for some scammers.
