In Iran’s Yazd province, the situation related to influenza is becoming increasingly serious. According to official data, since the beginning of the year the virus has been detected in more than 1,100 patients in this region. Unfortunately, 13 people have died as a result of the illness.
It is reported that most of the deceased were elderly individuals and people with pre-existing chronic diseases. According to the medical official Masoud Sharifi, six of the deaths were recorded during the summer months, while the remaining seven occurred in recent weeks.
Specialists are urging the population to follow safety measures and, if flu symptoms appear, to avoid self-treatment and to consult a doctor.
