In the Bekkersdal area, located southwest of Johannesburg in South Africa, an armed attack left 9 people dead and 10 others injured. This was reported by the South African Police Service. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 21, at around 1:00 a.m. local time.
According to police, unknown individuals stormed a licensed area and opened fire on people present. The attackers arrived in a white minibus and a silver passenger vehicle. While fleeing the scene, they also fired shots randomly around the area.
The injured were taken to hospitals by emergency services, where they are receiving medical treatment. Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation to identify and arrest the suspects. The exact motive for the attack remains unknown.
