Hundreds of dolphins have died along the coasts of Krasnodar region. According to reports, 688 dolphin bodies were found as a result of an oil spill. The highest number of dolphin deaths was recorded in the first month after the oil spill. Experts say the effects of the ecological disaster may be felt for several years.
Toxins accumulating in the body can increase various diseases, raise mortality rates, and reduce birth rates. Deaths were also observed during the season when whales and dolphins come ashore, especially in late October and November.
