Four killed in snowstorm in Vardusia Mountains, Greece

In central Greece, four hikers who went missing on Christmas Day were found dead after being caught in a snowstorm in the Vardusia Mountains. The bodies of three men and one woman were found on Friday evening.
Fire service teams located the bodies on a steep and inaccessible slope near Korakas peak, at an altitude of about 2,000 meters. Rescuers confirmed that the group was swept away by the snowstorm.
The hikers had begun their ascent in good weather, but conditions quickly worsened due to the altitude and terrain. A friend raised the alarm after they failed to return at the expected time.
Rescue operations continued on Saturday. One body was successfully airlifted by helicopter, while the remaining three are being moved to a nearby plateau using rescue equipment.
