On February 9, a shooting incident was recorded on the grounds of Thomas Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland. As a result of the incident, one student was injured and taken to the hospital. This was reported by the Rockville City Police.
According to police, the shooting occurred at approximately 2:15 PM local time. Upon receiving the report, Montgomery County Police and Rockville City Police officers were immediately dispatched to the school grounds.
At the scene, it was found that one student was wounded by a bullet, and he was taken to a local medical institution. It is reported that the victim's condition is assessed as stable.
According to law enforcement agencies, the suspect is also a student of this educational institution. He was detained shortly after the incident near the school building.
The police stated that there is no additional threat to public safety. Students were left inside the school building until all necessary procedures were completed.
