US President Donald Trump expressed skepticism about videos circulating about thousands of people gathering in support of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Trump stated that videos circulating on social media and some media outlets show approximately 250,000 people gathered in Tehran Square in support of Khamenei . However, he claimed that these scenes were not real, but were made using artificial intelligence technologies.
"They showed how much they love Khamenei and how nearly 250,000 people gathered in the square. But these are images created entirely by artificial intelligence. Such an incident has never actually happened," Trump said.
In his opinion, some media outlets also knew that this event was not real, but still, by distributing these videos, they tried to create the impression that the people were broadly supporting the Iranian leadership.
Trump also noted that such information could be one of the elements of an information war aimed at shaping public opinion. According to him, with the development of artificial intelligence technologies, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between real and fake information.
At the moment, Iranian officials have not yet reacted to these claims. Analysts say that such statements show that the tension in the information space around Iran has intensified.
