Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a new round of talks with the United States on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine will take place on March 21. Zelensky said diplomatic efforts had slowed down for a time, but added that the pause should now end. He stressed that Ukraine wants the discussions to be meaningful and focused on practical steps to stop the fighting. According to him, the political part of the Ukrainian delegation is already on the way for the planned meeting.
The delegation will include National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, presidential office head Kyrylo Budanov, and parliamentary faction leader Davyd Arakhamia. First Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Serhiy Kyslytsya is also expected to take part in the meeting.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Europe must also be involved in negotiations on Ukraine. Speaking in the Bundestag on March 18, he warned that talks should not happen over the heads of Ukraine and European countries. He also called for continued pressure on Moscow, saying Germany has reliable information that Russia’s economy is suffering seriously from the war and from sanctions.
