Tension around Strait of Hormuz: US deploys troops

According to The Wall Street Journal, the US is sending thousands of marines to the Middle East. They are expected to arrive in the region on Friday - it was on this day that Donald Trump pushed forward the deadline for opening the Strait of Hormuz to Iran.

Approximately 2,200 Marines - as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit - are reportedly being sent to the CENTCOM-controlled area via the USS Tripoli (LHA-7) and USS New Orleans (LPD-18). Official settlement work will begin on Friday, but it will take several more days to fully reach the Strait of Hormuz.

Experts emphasize that this increase in amphibious forces is being carried out in conjunction with the latest warnings issued by the US. This could further escalate the situation in the region and increase the likelihood of the use of force.

At the same time, it is noted that any actions around the Strait of Hormuz could have a serious impact on the global energy market and international security.
