Saudi Arabia urged stronger strikes on Iran

Saudi Arabia has urged the United States to intensify military action against Iran, according to reports by The Guardian citing a Saudi intelligence source. The source said Riyadh is not only calling for the campaign to continue, but also wants it expanded.
According to the report, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom’s de facto ruler, encouraged US President Donald Trump to press ahead with the war against Iran. The source described the current US-Israeli campaign as a “historic opportunity” to reshape the Middle East.
The New York Times also reported on March 24, citing its own source, that the Saudi crown prince urged Trump not to ease pressure on Tehran. According to that account, he called for military operations to continue and for the Iranian government to be removed.
At the same time, Saudi Arabia itself has come under attack from Iran, the reports said. A week earlier, the SAMREF oil refinery in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu was reportedly targeted.
