The Iranian Foreign Ministry is demanding international accountability for the United States and Israel for actions taken against the country's leadership. This was announced to RIA Novosti by ministry spokesperson Ismael Baqai, he stated.
He emphasized that Iran views this issue not only as an internal political position but as a critical demand for the entire international community. According to Baqai, the actions of the US and Israel should be evaluated as serious crimes against international peace and security:
"We must do this. I believe that not only Iran, but the entire international community is calling for accountability. Because the actions of the US and Israel are a crime against international peace and security. This is a war crime, a crime against humanity," said Baqai.
The spokesperson described the situation as a war crime and a crime against humanity, specifically emphasizing that norms of international law have been violated.
Furthermore, citing Article 1 of the Geneva Convention, he reminded that all states are obligated to respect and ensure compliance with international humanitarian law. In his view, when these rules are broken, it is the duty of all UN members to demand accountability.
Baqai noted that the actions committed by the US and Israel contradict international principles and stated the need to call upon all UN member states to hold them accountable:
"Since the atrocities committed by the US and Israel have violated these principles, I believe all UN member states should call for the accountability of the US and Israel," he added.
According to Iran's position, this issue remains a permanent political and legal demand, and the country will strive to hold the perpetrators accountable through its internal system and international law mechanisms:
"As for Iran, this will be a constant call by all Iranians, and we will use our entire internal system as well as international law to hold them accountable for the terrible crimes committed against the people of Iran," he said.
According to the text, military actions began on February 28, targeting facilities within Iranian territory, including Tehran. It is also reported that significant losses were recorded among the Iranian leadership during this period.
It was announced that several high-ranking representatives of the armed forces and political structures were killed during the conflict, which has further increased tensions in the region.
