Finland's capital, Helsinki, has launched another important object of modern infrastructure. This refers to the Kruunuvuorensilta bridge, the longest and highest in the country.
This magnificent structure connects Korkeasaari Island with the Kruunuvuorenranta residential area, marking a new phase in the city's infrastructure. The bridge's total length is 1,191 meters, and it is valued not only for its functionality but also as an architecturally significant landmark.
Most interestingly, private cars will not be allowed to cross this bridge. It is intended solely for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport. This decision aims to improve the city's ecology, enhance traffic safety, and develop a sustainable transport system.
The opening of the new bridge has created significant convenience for the city's residents. The distance from the Kruunuvuorenranta area to the city center has now decreased from 11 kilometers to 5 kilometers, allowing for savings in time and resources.
As stated by the city's mayor, Daniel Sazonov, this bridge is expected to become one of Helsinki's new symbols:
"The Kruunuvuorensilta bridge is a new, unique, and exciting landmark for Helsinki. It will become a destination attracting tourists from near and far. It will change the perception of the city and connect districts with the center in a new format," he said.
The bridge's opening ceremony also generated great interest. More than 50,000 spectators attended the events held over the weekend, clearly demonstrating the high level of interest in the new structure.
In short, Helsinki has once again demonstrated how innovation in modern urban planning can drive development. This bridge is now expected to become not just a means of transport, but also a new tourist brand for the city.
