Kazakh Man Sentenced to 125 Years in Prison After Seeking Work Through Instagram

The sentencing of 24-year-old Kazakh citizen Rashid Kodyrov to 125 years in prison in Greece has sparked widespread debate. His relatives say the young man fell victim to an international criminal network and are calling for the case to be reviewed.

According to reports, Rashid Kodyrov responded to an Instagram job advertisement seeking work in Turkey. The offer involved organizing motorboat tours for tourists. He was later accused of participating in the transportation of illegal migrants.

The young man’s mother, Nurkhan Kodyrova, said her son was not provided with an interpreter during the investigation. She also said he was warned that his sentence could become even harsher and was forced to sign certain documents.

According to the woman, the court sentenced Rashid Kodyrov not only to imprisonment but also imposed a fine of nearly 1 billion tenge . She believes her son fell victim to a fraudulent scheme targeting people looking for work through social media.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the case, stating that the citizen had been found guilty under serious provisions of Greek law. According to the ministry, Rashid Kodyrov is receiving consular and legal assistance, and the case remains under the supervision of the diplomatic mission.
