As reported by cenyavto.com, Hyundai has officially introduced the second-generation Nexo, a hydrogen-powered crossover with a driving range of up to 700 km.
The new Nexo closely resembles the Initium concept shown in 2024, but now enters production. It features a 201 hp electric motor and a 147 hp hydrogen fuel cell. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.8 seconds. The biggest highlight: refueling takes only 5 minutes — far faster than charging most electric vehicles.
Design-wise, Nexo sparked mixed reactions. Some praise its futuristic style, while others compare it to the polarizing Pontiac Aztek. Sharp lines, bulky bumpers, hidden door handles, and LED lighting create a bold look. Inside, there are two 12.3-inch displays, a head-up display, camera-based mirrors, and a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system with 14 speakers.
Technically, the Nexo combines a hydrogen fuel cell and a 2.64 kWh battery. The updated tank holds 6.69 kg of hydrogen (up from 6.33 kg), allowing for a 700 km range.
While Nexo remains a niche vehicle, it’s a major step for hydrogen tech. Though unlikely in Russia due to infrastructure issues, the model could appeal to buyers in China or the US.
