Automatic fines for crossing road markings will be abolished from June 1 - Presidential initiative

Automatic fines for crossing road markings will be abolished from June 1 - Presidential initiative
An important innovation for drivers is taking place on the roads of Uzbekistan. According to a government resolution adopted on the instructions of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, starting from June 1, 2024, crossing the continuous road lines separating traffic lanes will not result in a fine through automated photo and video surveillance devices.

This was announced to the public by the press secretary of the head of state, Sherzod Asadov.

What is the resolution about?

The main goal of the resolution is to create a more convenient, understandable and fair system for drivers. The President proposed a practical solution, taking into account the suggestions and complaints of the population.

“A driver crossing the continuous road line will no longer be recorded by automatic radar or camera. Such cases will be registered in the established manner only if they are detected by personal observation by a Road Patrol Service employee,” the official statement says.

However, there is an exception to this rule - the stop line ("stop line", sign 5.33). If the driver crosses this line, the camera may record it and a fine will be issued.

What will change?
After June 1:
  • Traffic cameras will not automatically record cases of crossing a continuous line separating the direction of traffic;
  • There will be no automatic fines for such violations;
  • However, if this situation is detected by traffic police officers, a fine may be issued.

Why is this important?

The automatic fine for crossing a continuous line by accident or force has been causing widespread dissatisfaction among drivers. Now this problem has been resolved legally.

How do you assess this innovation? Is this change really a relief for drivers, or do other problems in the system need to be solved?
