
Bill Ford, chairman of Ford Motor Company and great-grandson of Henry Ford, publicly criticized Donald Trump’s stance on electric vehicles, reports auto.mail.ru.
Speaking at a conference in Michigan, Ford warned that plans to build a battery plant in the state — designed to employ 1,700 workers — are at risk if Congress rolls back EV subsidies.
"It’s unfair to change the rules after the money is spent," said Bill Ford.
He emphasized that supporting EVs is not political, but a matter of fairness.
"Politicians can argue whether this is desirable or not — but don’t change the rules once the investments are made."
Ford's position is shared by industry rivals: GM, Hyundai, Toyota, and Volkswagen all previously spoke out in favor of keeping EV incentives.
Ford also faces pressure from U.S. sanctions against China. The company planned to license cheap lithium-ion battery tech from CATL, but the firm is now blacklisted by the U.S. Department of Defense. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
