Elon Musk's Tesla company has recently planned to launch a taxi service in New York City. However, according to city regulations, testing or operating autonomous vehicles requires permission from the authorities. A spokesperson from the New York City Department of Transportation pointed out that Tesla has not yet submitted an official request for permission.
At the end of July, Tesla launched its robotaxi project in San Francisco. However, as of now, there is still a driver in the robotaxi, but the driver is controlling the vehicle with their expertise. Musk's robotaxi project is also operational in Texas, where local laws allow the use of self-driving vehicles without drivers.
The robotaxi project is currently a transformer, tackling numerous issues and aiming to bring new innovations, yet it is causing new problems when integrating autonomous vehicles into each city's legislation. This project could become a reliable assistant for many, but it also requires setting new paths and regulations.
