AvtoVAZ is utilizing its May holiday break to prepare for the production of the new Lada Azimut model. Modernization work has already commenced and is scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar.
Factory employees will be on leave from May 1 to May 13. On May 14-15, staff not involved in the modernization process will be temporarily off work with pay.
Following this, the enterprise will gradually resume its operations.
More than 500 million rubles will be allocated to upgrade production in Tolyatti. The primary focus is on installing new equipment for the Lada Azimut and modernizing the Lada Niva assembly line.
Engine production is also being updated. New centers for manufacturing 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter engines will be launched.
All work is scheduled to be completed by May 18, 2026.
Serial production of the Lada Azimut crossover is expected to begin in September. Sales are set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The price of the vehicle is estimated to range from 2.2 million to 2.5 million rubles.
