Durability of affordable small cars: Long distances with Ford Fiesta

Recent reports show that the car fleet in the UK is aging significantly. This is due to people being reluctant to switch to new cars or their reliable vehicles still being ready for service. However, what is it really like to drive a car that has undergone severe tests throughout its life? Autocar.co.uk reports on this.
Last year, I bought a Ford Fiesta that had covered 130,000 miles (approx. 209,000 km), and after using it for a year, I recently sold it. Despite being 17 years old and quite worn, using this compact hatchback in daily life was a unique experience.
Many avoid small cars with such high mileage, but the Ford Fiesta surprised me with its durability. The engine and transmission system were in better condition than expected, and fuel consumption remained at an affordable level. This proves that there are still quality options in the affordable car market.
Of course, an old car has its drawbacks: rattling interior parts and wear on some components are noticeable. Nevertheless, models like the Ford Fiesta have shown that they can be reliable companions for budget-conscious drivers. This experience means that with proper maintenance, even "elderly" cars can serve for many years.
