Colin Farrell needed 46 takes to shoot a scene in Special Thoughts

Colin Farrell admitted that one of the most embarrassing situations in his acting career on The Late Show occurred during the filming of Steven Spielberg's science fiction thriller Special Thoughts, based on Philip Kindred Dick's story of the same name.

One day, after celebrating his birthday, the actor came to the set in such a state that he needed 46 takes for one scene. "It was one of the worst shooting days in my life. May 31 was my birthday, and I asked the $120 million film producers not to force me to work the next day. "But, of course, things weren't going according to schedule - my pickup was scheduled for 6 a.m.," Farrell admitted.

According to the actor, the evening went much worse than planned: "I went to bed and just turned off the light - the phone is ringing. The driver said: "It's six o'clock." And I thought: "Oh, damn..."

David Wenghouse Jr., the assistant director, immediately noticed that Colin wasn't doing well on the field. "He said: 'You can't go to the playground like this.' And I replied: "Bring only six bottles of beer and cigarettes." "This isn't great, but it helped then. Meanwhile, all the wise say: live in the present, and, damn it, I lived with it in that moment."

Despite the "one or two bottles of beer," the situation did not change during the filming process. The actor couldn't say his words: "I should have said: 'I'm sure you all understood the main paradox of pre-crime methodology.'" And I couldn't do that!"

The film crew tried to help the actor: "A man came and asked, 'Do you want to go outside and breathe fresh air?' But I thought - if I leave, it will be even worse, after all, it will be harder to return. And I said: "No, let's just get through." As a result, the team filmed one episode 46 times. "Tom wasn't very pleased with me," he admitted.
