The FBI, together with Chilean officials, returned the valuables stolen from his home in Los Angeles to Kian Reeves in December 2023. Officials stated in a press release that all items were officially handed over to the 61-year-old actor.

According to the investigation, this theft was committed by transnational criminal groups called "South American gangs" - they move between countries for attacks and looting.
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell stated that the successful return of the assets "signs a strong signal that the persecution of such criminal groups is inevitable." "This case is an excellent example of international cooperation between the FBI, Chilean police, and the Los Angeles Police Department," said FBI Assistant Director in Los Angeles Akyl Davis.
On December 6, 2023, men in ski masks kidnapped Kianu Reeves' Los Angeles home. The actor was not at home at the time of the incident.
